Stop motion animation is a style of animation where people use pictures of objects to simulate an object moving or doing something. Stop motion animation is much more different than regular animation styles. as it uses images to simulate movement its fps (frames per second) is much more smaller than any other style of animation. So it's much more jerky and slightly less realistic. People try to counter this unrealistic animation style by using slight techniques like sliding where you add an acceleration and a deceleration period to your movement. As you can see the animator uses the frames he has to show an increase in speed and a decrease in speed by making the object seemingly slow down. Lighting in stop motion animation is a tool animators use to their advantage, you can use it to catch the viewers eyes. Flickering is also something that animators use to make a shot more cinematic, but too much light serves as distraction. Just like all styles of animation editing is used. For stop motion animation editing is used to piece the pictures together to make your images become footage. Also if a picture is too dark or too bright you can use editing to make it brighter or darker.
