3D modeling at first was easy. Maybe because before your hand was held when you were making an object, and everything was told to you directly. Now we're biking on our own with the training wheels taken off. Work has gotten harder yes but it's not hard in doing it, it's hard in that it takes a lot of time to do. Before you were told what you need to do and how to do it exactly. Now you're told what you need to do and how you do it, after that you're thrown into 3DS Max to get to work. In my last post I said I was worried about having to do a lot of work like texturing and making larger rooms instead of objects, my worries did come true when I fell behind for because texturing objects is a lot more difficult than I first thought it would be. 3D modeling to me has changed, from more of a task to work. It's gotten harder, a lot harder. It's only going to get harder now. We're starting to texture and make objects out of other objects using different modifiers, which is a lot more difficult than just using subobjects to create something. After doing things like creating a table with modifiers like the lathe tool. 3DS max has gotten harder yes, but overall I've gotten better. It's to the point that half of the stuff we do is muscle memory at this point and the more we learn the more we get set back but the easier the future gets.
